Lakefront Estate Lakefront Home
Tahoe Lakefronts - Lakefront Home

Overview of Project

This project started out as a remodel but turned into a complete tear down-rebuild by the Owner's request. Keeping much of the older homes attributes, Griggs Custom Homes was able to truly customize this second home for the owners. With a large amount of the home's windows overlooking Lake Tahoe, the views are truly breathtaking. Challenges for this project included stabilizing the steep slope the original home was built on while retaining access to the private pier and the discreetly placed hot tub. One of the many goals of this project was to build a user-friendly home with all the modern conveniences that incorporated easy to use controls and systems.

Unique features

Features in this home include specially inlayed stones that the Owners had found and gathered on a trip out of the country. The stone was used to outline one of the bathroom floors and also as a mural in the shower for a truly unique and custom appearance. Griggs Custom Homes was able to reuse the interior wood from the original house and had it milled, using it for cabinet material and cabinet doors as well as for trim throughout the home. This type of customization along with other ideas Griggs Custom Homes brought to this home were truly appreciated by the Owners, enabling them to have a unique home built to their specific likes and tastes. The driveway was heated as were several areas of the roof to increase the usability of the home in the winter. Ledge stone was used in the master bathroom shower for a rustic look. A second laundry area was added to home during construction upon the Owner's request. Also, a custom built gliding door similar to a medieval-style door was built for the entry to the master bath. All exterior decks were built with Iron Wood including all the railing details. The home's custom interior stairwell was solely designed and built by Griggs Custom Homes.
